Passionate about the prize.
Philippians 3:13-14 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
My favorite sport in my teen years was roller hockey. My friends and I played roller hockey every chance we could get. Eventually, we found a roller hockey league called the Rollerama Co-Ed Hockey League. The RCHL for short. When we joined the league, we were put on four separate teams and we quickly became rivals. We were giving our all to win the coveted RCHL Cup (A 5-gallon water bottle duct taped to a plunger) We could not wait to skate around holding the cup, feeling like we won the NHL’s Stanley Cup.
Looking back, I can see how stupid we were to be so excited about a duct taped trophy, but for those few years it was my passion to lift that prize. Today my passion is pursuing heavenly prizes. I deeply desire to lay up treasure in Heaven where moth and rust doth not corrupt, where thieves break through nor steal.
My friends we all have passions. Everyone of us have something that gets us excited, and motivated to live another day. I beg of you friend, make it your passion in life to pursue those heavenly prizes. All other passions are puny, just like the playing for a duct taped trophy. In 20 years that puny thing that you are passionate about today, will be a piece of trash. However; everything that you passionately do for the kingdom of God will only get better with time.
Never settle… Seek to be the best Christian that you can be…. Love more…. Praise God more… Witness more… Pray more…. Read and live God’s Word….
