Football vs. Faith

Hebrews 2:1 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

Its football season in America. College football and the NFL are in full swing in their seasons. American Football is an exciting sport played between two teams that consist of coaches, players, and personnel. In total there are probably hundreds of people hired by each team to win their games. During the games however, there are only about 5 people on the field that move the ball to score points. These five players may get the most attention, but the others players on the field, and all the personal are equally important. One slip, one bad play, or one mistake could lead to a loss. Every player, every coach, and all the personnel must give all their attention to the game, to give them a chance to beat the enemy.

Here at Silver Valley Baptist Church we are a team. We have a mission to win everyone we can to Jesus. We have an enemy worse than the Dallas Cowboys. He is the devil. The devil is doing everything he can to cause us to slip, so that souls will go to hell and not Heaven.

Folks, what we do at this church is way more important than any sport, or organization. We must do everything we can as the verse above says to give our utmost attention to win people to Jesus. You may not be the one on stage, or in a classroom that gets the attention, but your job on this team is equally important to win souls to Jesus.

You must be in prayer! You must be in God’s Word! You must be loving your neighbor! You must be giving your offerings and tithes! You must be in Church and in worship! You must be supporting our team, and not tearing our team down. I pray that you will give your best to God today, and everyday so that we as a team can win as many people to Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 12:1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
